the many faces of Janet Rowland

June 30, 2008 at 3:18 am (photo) (, )

So it turns out that one of Grand Junction’s county commissioner hopefuls has more to her than meets he eye. I’m not really sure what to say about this newest development, except that I have no idea what the county commissioner does anyway, so I have no reservations about posting these photos.

new baby! can there be any other?

June 22, 2008 at 5:42 pm (Uncategorized)

We now have the official announcement that the Ammons are having their second child. We’re very happy for them, and even though he/she is due on February thirteenth, we sincerely hope they’re not actually born on Friday the thirteenth. Congradulations Scott, Alana, and Jayden.

a relaxing evening of barbecue and conversation on the back porch. this would be my phone reflecting the light from the tiki torch sitting near it. on a side note, my phone is totally awesome.

picture of the day

June 19, 2008 at 2:42 am (Uncategorized)

here’s a neato picture Tabitha and I took last night. we stopped and walked over onto the 12th street bridge over the interstate and took a few picture with 20-30 second exposures. kind of a cool view of the city and the mesa and the book cliffs.

here’s a picture for you!

June 18, 2008 at 1:23 am (Uncategorized)

don’t feel like writing too much at the moment. Anna made us run around the park playing tag, so now I’m all hot and tired. on the plus side, here’s a picture for you! I sorta wish the power lines and whatnot weren’t there, but Tabitha says it adds character. thar she blows!

it’s been a while

June 17, 2008 at 5:53 pm (Uncategorized)

So I sorta forgot about updating my blog for the past week and a half or so. It seems like we’ve been really busy recently but I don’t really know if we’ve been doing much out of the ordinary. I plan on making this a full update later, but since I’m blogging this on my phone using stolen internet while on my lunch break, I’ll abbreviate.

-been working lots. It finally got hot out so now it’s miserable.

-the car stopped working the other day. Looks like it’s going to be about 550 to get it fixed. Oh well.

-most of my family got here yesterday. It should be fun hanging with them. I wish my dad could have made it too though.

-I finally got to use Clara’s macbook. It’s sweet

traveling != fun

June 9, 2008 at 2:57 am (Uncategorized)

We finally made it home. Super long day of moving about. If you measure everything by Colorado time, we got up at five am and arrived home at eight thirty PM. Not something I would choose to do on a regular basis. I’m getting a pro flickr account tonight, so as soon as I’ve got some photos up I’ll supply the link. Good to be home.

leavin’ on a jet plane

June 8, 2008 at 1:59 pm (Uncategorized)

so we’re headed back home to sweet sweet Colorado. it’ll be very nice to be able to sleep in our own bed and get back to our (somewhat) regular routine. it’s been very fun here, but we’re definitely ready to be back. I was planning on blogging this from my phone via the airport’s free wi-fi, but their stupid intro screen confuses my phone. so instead I actually had to unpack my laptop.

we only have thirty minutes to get to our next flight after the first one lands, which means that they’ll actually be boarding that flight while we’re deboarding the first. not only that, but at Detroit, going from a little plane to a big plane means traversing the entire airport. no lie, you actually have to walk underneath the plane highway thingy. fun you say? oh yes, unbelievably.

I can’t wait to post a bunch of the pictures I took yesterday at Clara’s graduation party. my uncle was there and he’s been taking fancy pictures since I was little. the best part is, his camera is similar to mine, so all his lenses are compatible with my camera. I basically spend several hours taking pictures with his awesome $1000 lens. definitely upgrading to a pro flickr account when I get home. anyways, we didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night, and I’m barely functioning enough to write, not to mention all the words I’ve misspelled so far. hopefully Firefox caught them all. wish us lots of good traveling karma!

tornados != safety

June 7, 2008 at 2:52 am (Uncategorized)

this evening we had some tornado warnage going on. way crazy storm action happening all across Indiana. happily we didn’t have anything go twister style through the air, although there were some reports of funnel clouds happening out by the airport (the Fort Wayne International Airport, Scott). the neighbors came over and hid in our basement with us for a little while, and when it was all over we went and looked at the gorgeous sky. Tabitha said I couldn’t post the rainbow pictures, so these are the sky facing the opposite direction.

Fort Wayne, less than 90 miles from four major airports

June 6, 2008 at 10:21 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

still in Fort Wayne. it’s been fun so far. we saw Clara graduate, went to the zoo, and I got a new phone! the phone has pretty much taken up all my time so far, and I’m going to go ahead and say, totally worth it. I won’t detail too much of my geekyness, but it has been intense. in the meantime, photo montage!

the river was very flooded on the way to Denver

we launched golf balls out of a catapult

Clara graduated!

then we saw (homeless?) monkeys at the zoo

HOW HAVE WE NOT FOUND A WAY TO HARNESS AND RIDE KOMODO DRAGONS YET!!!???

goats are adorable. evidence number one.

goats are adorable. evidence number two.

we ran into one of the coolest people to ever attend R. Nelson Snider High School, Sophia Ulmer

then today Anna and her friend played on what may be one of the greatest inventions of the modern era, the “slip ‘n’ slide”

be sure to check out the hi-res version to see how awesome water is

that pretty much sums up our activities so far. yay!
